Warning: Construction Zone

Here it is, twenty-seven days until Christmas and
we are starting a wee reno.
On the weekend we happily bid farewell to the carpets we hated disliked immensely.

Now we just have to level the floors, remove icky sconces, choose colours and paint three rooms, lay hardwood, prepare the fireplace for refacing, paint and install new baseboards. I thought we were just laying the hardwood. Things kind of escalated.

My Christmas crafting has taken a back seat. Even my lovely holiday chalkboard plans have been laid aside. I PhotoShopped over the two words I had finished
so that I could bring you my

entirely digital chalkboard art...

I received the most deeeelightful package in the mail yesterday and I cannot wait to tell you about it!! For now, all you get to see is the same plywood floors and spackled walls that we're enjoying.

I may be a little bit absent over the next week or so
as I hang up my crochet hook and wield a paint brush.

I will check in with you when I can sneak away take a break.

Thanks for checking in !

  1. I might forego some crafting, decorating and blogging to get a new wood floor.

  2. Whoa! That's alot of work! Good luck with it all Tracy. I bet the finished product is going to be beautiful. I love hardwood floors best of all.

  3. I'm a huge fan of your digital chalkboard! Great idea. I'm so excited about your "wee reno" too. I'm going to live vicariously through yours and enjoy it without the associated dust and sore muscles. It's beginning to look like something wonderful is on the way!

  4. My first thought was HOW did she create that wonderful chalk art?! Sneaky girl. I've got the same look going on in our dining room right now, minus the floor replacement. And the fireplace resurfacing. And the trimwork. And I bet you'll still finish before me!

When all the dust settles, you'll have a beautiful light filled room with that big window I'd love to have in my own living room! Lucky you! Time for me to turn the computer off and get to work. Coffee/DC break at 10ish?

  5. Tracy, there's nothing like a good project and it sounds like you have your hands full. It 's going to be great though, I'm sure. Don't work too hard. I can't wait to see the big finish!

  6. I know this will look wonderful, and the signs is a great start...us, we would be chisling out ceramic 12 by 12 tiles...I think I will just have to keep living with them...amazing how our tastes change as we age..
PS, don't over do it, my Hub was doing a little project and tore his muscle and tendon.

  7. That's a heck of a wonderful Christmas gift.

  8. I'll be looking forward to seeing the reveal! I know it will be fantastic!

  9. Hang in there, I just know it's going to be amazing and so worth it!
    Love that wall color!

  10. Good luck! Waiting the "after" photos...it will be great, I'm sure.
    Besos, Silvina

  11. There's nothing like Christmas to kick that nest feathering into gear! Hang in there, you won't regret it!
