New Kitchen Signage

It is August... time for my first post of the year. I wouldn't want to rush into anything. I had to share my Funky Junk Interiors inspired sign for Donna's Funky Junk Interiors Saturday Night Special.

I checked out Donna's ace tutorial, but left my sign white. I may get brave and try a base colour next time. I don't have a Silhouette (yet) or anything fancy. I just printed out my words and used the old stylus to trace around the letters. Next time I will try the newspaper under the paper trick. I used the font Korner Deli NF and love how it turned out. The boards came from my neighbour across the alley who was replacing her fence. Thanks Susan! I love the splits and nail holes. Dragging the two heavy sections of fence home was easier than convincing my husband that I needed the old wood.

This is where my sign actually resides. Looking out from the kitchen into the family room I like how it fills the empty space over the moulding.

My favourite thing about my new sign is the way the paint sanded off from the old boards. Heavy globs of paint made for cool white blotches on the black after sanding. Thanks Donna for the always inspiring funky and junky ideas.
