All you need is a few twigs and some craft paint to make these rustic style peppermint sticks. I used the watershoots that grew on our apple tree this past summer. I finally tried printing on fabric and I am loving it! This label is from my new for 2024 set #119. Be sure to do your research before feeding fabric into your printer. I used the freezer paper method and it worked well for me. If I had an inexpensive extra printer laying around I would use that for sure.   I centered the image on a letter size page leaving more room on top so I could make a bag fold that I thought looked authentic. After printing I dusted off my ole sewing machine and got busy. I boxed off the sack corners and filled with a baggie of a 1/2 cup of pantry-dead lentils for weight before stuffing with fibrefill. The sack is about 6.5"x8.5" and almost 3" deep. I printed the label at actual size. It's a really easy sewing project and I am really happy with how it turned out. I think Mrs. Claus would approve....

Add a cozy cable sweater to a holiday gift candle with a crochet headband pattern! These beginner cable patterns (links below) come with great how-to instructions and one has a video. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it but once you get it these are fun and quick to make and warmly dress up a gift. Remove sweater while burning your candle... lit for the photo only. :) These two candles are 3" tall and 3" in diameter; the pattern from BHooked comes with a great video to get you started. Scroll down to the bottom of the pattern to find it. I used a 3 weight yarn and 3.5mm hook. I chained 16, single crochet in second chain to get 15 across then start with Row 4. Work till your piece is just a little snug on the candle and whipstitch or single crochet closed. I was at about maximum width so I didn't crochet the single crochet along the edges on this one. I attached buttons over the seam and done!! I crocheted for years before I made my first dishcloth... now I cannot imagine my kitchen without one. Oodles of free patterns are available and you can make them as open or dense as you like... everyone has their own preference. Once you start using them you'll be hooked. Just be sure you use 100% cotton. They make wonderful wee gifts and are easy to work on throughout the year when you have time for a small project or want a take-along to the office or in the car. They fit perfectly into a stocking; use a cute label and you won't even need to wrap them! I print on kraft paper or kraft cardstock for a sturdier label. Set your printer to 'no margin' or 'full bleed' to get the border right out to the edges of your paper. Use the best quality printer and settings for a crisp label. I use my trusty rotary cutter, quilter's ruler and cutting mat to slice them apart but a paper cutter or scissors work fine.  My labels are for personal u......

Tis the season for sharing your hand crocheted goodness with friends and family; adding a label makes your gift look even prettier. The smaller label fits one crocheted dishcloth or use the wider labels for a bundle of two or three dishcloths, a hat or scarf. I print on sturdy brown kraft paper (cut to 8.5x11 from a roll) or lightweight cardstock and then trim with my rotary cutter and quilting ruler. Thank you everyone for your well wishes on our painting and flooring adventure. I am missing having the time and energy to visit all of my favourite blogs. I did take a quick minute (while my assistant carpenter was at a meeting) to fluff up and photograph the Christmas cubby. (Note the compressor handle is part of the display...)
